Our style blogger, Ashley, is here to tell us three reasons the maxi dress can be the go-to item in your closet!

1. Versatility.

The maxi dress can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. I love wearing my army green cotton maxi dress from non-other than – Target!! I get compliments on this dress every time I wear it! I love it because I still feel confident and cute in this dress while playing with my kids (it has the coverage I need), going to church or out for lunch with the girls.

2. One dress for your different sizes.

I particularly like this style because you can change sizes and still make the maxi work for you! You remember my last video post, I put on a strapless maxi by Sweet Pea, this dress worked for my post-baby body. And you can see I wore the same dress while 35 weeks pregnant!

one-and-done-1

Women in transition, remember the maxi, it will be your saving grace when it comes to buying clothes that will work for your changing body. Not only will it save you money while your body is changing; it will also give your self-esteem a boost during those times you just don’t know what to wear. Choose a dropped waist look like the one in my picture or choose an empire waist, either will work with a changing figure. This is definitely something I can wear without becoming discouraged by the slower way my body is returning to its normal size after pregnancy as it always fits and looks fabulous!

3. It’s a one and done kind of look.

I love the one piece options, especially when I am running around getting the kids dressed. I don’t always have time to think about what I am going to wear! It is easy to just take one thing from my closet instead of trying to put together an outfit on the fly.

Remember certain fabrics will look more dressed up than others. For example, cotton will look a bit more casual than the nylon dress you see in the picture, but you just have to find the right maxi for your lifestyle! Also if the chest is tight on the maxi it may not work for a changing figure, so find a dress with an elastic waist! If you have a favorite maxi, we would love to see photos and tell us why you love the one and done look!
