Wardrobe Must-Haves for the Mom-Life

Kelsey Lasher

Mom life requires versatility, and that includes our wardrobes. Our days and our kids demand a lot of us, and we need to be ready to dress the part. Whether you’re snuggling a baby on the couch, enjoying a fun night out or running from the office to the T-ball field, here are five wardrobe must-haves for the mom-life.

1. Jeans That Fit and Flatter

We’ve all heard that clothing sizes are “just a number,” but never is this truer than in mom life. Perhaps the title of “mama” has brought with it a new size or cut of jeans, and that’s OK! Find a brand, a size and a style that makes you feel confident, and then snatch up that denim as fast as you can. A good pair of jeans can take you from work to play or casual to classy whenever you need them and will provide comfort and confidence in the process.

2. Comfortable Shoes

These could be tennis shoes, flip-flops, or flats, but whatever they are, make them comfortable. They’ll be the footwear you turn to when you run the 10th errand of the day, stand guard at the playground or wait in line at the coffee shop. These faithful friends will see your feet through the day, ready to cradle them as you walk to the moon and back for your kids.

3. Cute Shoes

Comfort goes a long way, but don’t forget that a cute pair of shoes can make you feel great! These could be trendy boots, striking heels or strappy sandals — anything that puts a smile on your face and helps you remember that you are a woman and a mom. Slip these on when you need a little extra boost, and go about your day with some extra pizazz.

4. Fun Night Out Dress

Speaking of pizazz, how about a dress for those rare occasions when you’re away from your kids? Whether you’re heading to a wedding, a girls’ night out or out on a date, you’ll need something fabulous to wear. This could be the timeless “little black dress” or something bolder and more colorful … just make sure you feel beautiful and confident in it!

5. Leggings/Joggers/Sweats

Somedays you feel fancy, and other days you need some soft fabric surrounding you. Every mom needs that go-to comfortable outfit, the one that you can throw on for school drop-off, a work-from-home day or last-minute playdates. Have these on hand for an effortless look that will leave you feeling unencumbered and ready to move.

Whatever your go-to wardrobe items look like, don’t forget that you are an amazing woman who spends her days doing incredible things! Whether you are going for an easy, on-the-go look or something a little fancier, make sure your clothes help you feel confident and comfortable in your own skin.
